Specialized Support for Tokophobia, Birth Trauma & Trauma-Related Concerns
Thank you for considering Emerald Heart Counseling as a resource for the individuals you support.
I welcome collaboration with therapists, OB-GYNs, midwives, doulas, and other professionals who encounter individuals experiencing significant fear or anxiety surrounding pregnancy and childbirth, navigating the effects of a traumatic or distressing birth, or seeking specialized trauma-focused therapy.
My goal is to provide compassionate, individualized care while supporting collaboration and continuity of care whenever appropriate.
Have a client you'd like to discuss?
A referral to Emerald Heart Counseling may be appropriate for an individual who is:
You do not need to be an expert in tokophobia or birth trauma to recognize when a client may benefit from specialized support.
If you are unsure whether a referral may be appropriate, I welcome professional consultation regarding potential referrals.

Emerald Heart Counseling also offers equine-assisted EMDR, combining EMDR therapy with clinically guided, ground-based equine-assisted interventions.
This approach provides an experiential option for individuals who may benefit from incorporating interaction with a horse into trauma-focused therapy.
No riding or previous horse experience is required.
Equine-assisted EMDR may be particularly appealing for individuals who are interested in a different therapeutic environment or who feel that experiential, body-based, or relational approaches may complement their trauma treatment.
If you have a client who may be interested in exploring this approach, I welcome inquiries and referrals.
I value collaboration with the professionals already involved in a client's care.
When appropriate and with the client's consent, I am happy to communicate with referring or collaborating providers to support continuity of care.
I recognize that each professional relationship and client's needs are different, so collaboration is tailored to the individual.
If you are unsure whether a referral may be appropriate, I welcome professional consultation regarding potential referrals.

With the client's permission, you may provide them with my contact information and encourage them to reach out directly.
Once a prospective client contacts Emerald Heart Counseling, I will speak with them about their concerns, answer questions about the services I provide, and determine whether my practice is an appropriate fit for their needs.
A referral does not obligate the individual to begin therapy, and I encourage prospective clients to find the provider and approach that feels right for them.
If you are a therapist, medical provider, midwife, doula, or other professional and have a question about whether Emerald Heart Counseling may be an appropriate resource for someone you support, please feel welcome to reach out.
I appreciate the opportunity to collaborate with professionals who are supporting individuals through these deeply personal experiences.
